POUR OVER

The Hario Pour over is an elegant brewer for those who want to perfect the pour and enjoy the character of the coffee. It’s great for folks who are looking for complete control over brewing extraction. The key here for brew pour over coffee is to pour slowly.

Recipe

What You Need:

  1. Hario V60 brewer

  2. Hario V60 filter

  3. Grinder

  4. 18gm (2 & half spoon Tablespoons) of ground coffee

  5. Hot water just off the boil (about 90 degree)

  6. Scale

  7. Timer

  8. Mug

Step 1

Grind 20 grams of coffee to be about as fine as kosher salt.

Step 2

Fold the filter into a cone shape and rinse it in the Hario dripper with water just off the boil to eliminate paper flavor and heat up the mug you are brewing into. Discard the rinse water.

Step 3

Heat the water to 92 degrees. Pour 00 ml water and let it bloom for 40 seconds. Coffee de-gasses or “blooms” when it’s fresh–the coffee bed should raise up and bubble a bit.

Step 4

Pour the rest of the 160 ml water slowly and in a spiral motion. Wait for the coffee bed to level, then repeat the process by applying 40ml and waiting till the coffee bed is leveled until you reach 280ml. Finish the entire brewing in 4 minutes 30 seconds. Remove the brewer and enjoy the coffee!
